4 Bold Lip Colors for Summer!

I don’t know what it is about the Summer season, but as soon as the sun comes out in full force I get the urge to inject a lot of color into my makeup! Inspired by the force of nature that in the orange-lip trend this year, I picked out four bold lip colors that boost my mood and help me get into the summer spirit!

Too Faced Melted Coral ($21, Ulta.com)

This longwear lipstick is so bright and peppy, but it’s the formula that really gets me! It has the consistency of a matte liquid lipstick, but has the slight sheen of a traditional cream lipstick formula. It doesn’t dry you out at ALL, which is a big issue for me in the summer months. It’s not completely transfer-proof, but the creamy formula and blendability makes it really easy to reapply!

The fuzzy applicator took a little but of getting used to, but the fibers on the tip help to get the lipstick into all the little nooks and crannies of your lips!

This is what it looks like swatched on my hand in natural sunlight.

Even though I’m very fair, it’s not too bright or neon for my complexion!

Tanya Burr Matte Lip in Rhubarb and Custard ($8.65, feelunique.com)

I know I constantly rave about the Tanya Burr products (not sponsored- I just love her line to death!) but I’m about to do it again. Her matte lipstick is legitimately the best liquid lipstick I have ever worn. It incredibly comfortable, completely transfer-proof, safe to eat and drink in, and its formula somehow manages to give me that clean-line, plumped up Instagram look.

The packaging is gorgeous (don’t know why that always gets me) with a soft gold cap and frosted tube.

This is what it looks like swatched on my hand.

And this is what it looks like on! (Please forgive my slightly derpy expression. I got really excited about the lipstick and couldn’t keep a straight face). It’s somehow both light and bright and looks SO feminine. Perfect lipstick for date night! Kiss proof too ;P

Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Sweet Nectar ($4.99, Target.com)

Milani is by far my favorite drugstore brand. It’s cruelty free, their packaging is AMAZING, and their products feel much more high end than you would expect for their killer prices. (Seriously. This lipstick is $5).

The trendy orange color of your dreams, the formula of this lipstick is oh-so creamy and feel so moisturizing on your lips. The pigmentation is very good for the cream formula, although I usually swipe this across my lips a few times to really build up the color.

The color itself is bright and bold, but looks amazing on every skin tone I’ve seen it on so far.

Orange lips can be intimidating, but trust me, it’ll look better on you than you think! Plus you’ll totally be on trend

Tarte Drench Lip Splash Lipstick in Surfer Girl ($22, Tarte.com)

So I got this lipstick as a free gift with purchase from Sephora and I’m SO glad I did. The cool-toned fuchsia is not a color I would normally buy for myself, but it is SO wearable! It’s still bold enough for me to consider it a statement lip, the blend between pink and purple makes it feel like an amped-up version of a color I would normally pick out.

Also, can we talk about the packaging for the Rainforest of the Sea line? (Are you sensing a theme here with me and packaging? I’m a sucker for a good gold lipstick bullet.)

The lipstick is SO insanely pigmented. This swatch was one stroke across my hand.

So wearable! And so fun!

Wearing brighter and bolder colors in the summer is a conscious effort for me- I’m the girl who has 40 versions of the exact same taupey-pink nude color in four different formulas. But part of what makes makeup so fun is experimenting with different styles and color that inspire us and make us feel joyful! And that’s exactly what these four lip products do for me. Let me know if you’ll be trying out any of these lipsticks, and what bold lip colors you’re loving for Summer!
