Hygge Autumn Bucket List

I’m pretty obsessed with the Danish concept of hygge. Especially after moving from sunny California to the Pacific Northwest, the feeling of cosiness that hygge embodies feels especially necessary to embrace. As Summer winds down and we look to the colder months of the year, I decided to plan for some extra fun with this Hygge Autumn Bucket List. I’m so excited to share it with you! Be sure to grab the free printable and Instagram stories at the end and tag me if you use them!

Hygge Autumn Bucket List

Go Apple Picking

Matt and I have been going apple picking since the first autumn we were together and it’s always on my hygge autumn bucket list! It’s so much fun to trek out to a farm to support local growers and walk away with a big bag of apples for pie (more on that later.)

Make Cinnamon Donuts

We got an air fryer a few months ago, and I’m still getting the hang of it. The idea of making some autumnal donuts without frying them in all the oil in Washington state sounds totally perfect! I’ll update you on how this goes.

Visit a Sunflower Field

We actually have this one planned out already! This weekend we’re heading to the Snohomish Sunflower Festival for a hayride, sunflower-picking, and of course some pictures for the ‘gram.

Hygge Autumn Bucket List

Go to the Fair

I’ve never been to the Washington State Fair but Matt’s been hyping it up to me for the last five years. I’m not too keen in the rides, but I love elote, a block of fries, and a good carnival game! Plus, I can pretend I’m in Parks and Rec at the Pawnee Harvest Festival…

Host a Dinner Party with Seasonal Foods

I love any excuse to cook for a group of friends. I’m so excited to hit up the last few weeks of farmer’s markets and make a cozy meal with seasonal fruits and veggies like sweet potato, beets, pears, and green beans.

Hygge Autumn Bucket List

Go on a Thrifted Sweater Date

I saw this idea on the internet a long time ago and have been meaning to do it ever since. The basic concept is that you and your SO head to a thrift store, pick out new sweaters, make some apple cider or hot chocolate while you wash and dry them, and then snuggle up for a movie in your cozy new threads! If we didn’t have an overflowing mug cabinet, I would add in thrifting for some cute mugs!

Make a Dried Flower Bouquet

I am OBSESSED with having fresh flowers in the house at all times. I work from my kitchen counter, so they add a lot of life to my workspace. In fall and winter, though, all of the delicate blooms that I love most are out of season or too expensive for our “saving for a house” budget. This year I want to build a dried flower bouquet that will last for weeks!

Bake German Apple Custard Pie

I promise I’m not biased about this because it’s an old family recipe. This is the best apple pie I’ve ever had. The recipe is SO unique. It’s not overwhelmingly sweet so you can eat it for breakfast as well as dessert (don’t worry, I won’t tell on you.)

Attend a Football Game

Go Seahawks! I’m not really a huge football person but the energy in that stadium is electric. Bundling up and eating yummy stadium food is such a fun experience. I’m just glad that we’re going in September this year rather than December like last year. I froze my butt off. RIP.

Hygge Autumn Bucket List

Go on a Fall Hike

Hiking is great any time of the year, but those fall colors make any view even more breathtaking. I also love that the cooler temperatures mean less sweat and a longer hike before I get too hot to keep climbing.

Hygge Autumn Bucket List

Find a Bike Path with Fall Leaves

I’m obsessed with my bike. Forreal. My little yellow beach cruiser isn’t the most practical bike in the world, but I feel SO CUTE riding it to the store to get groceries. I’m excited to find a new path lined with some pretty fall trees this season.

Roast Pumpkin Seeds

I’ve been roasting pumpkin seeds since I was really little. Matt isn’t a huge fan of them, but I can’t get enough of them! Anybody have suggestions for recipes for new flavors?

Hygge Autumn Bucket List

Make Soup from Scratch

I can’t get my favorite Boudin Bakery butternut squash soup since we moved, but this copycat recipe from My PB&J is pretty dang close.

Hygge Autumn Bucket List

Have a Clothing Swap with Friends

I’ve really been focusing on quitting fast fashion this year. Hosting a clothing swap where all of your girlfriends bring over pre-loved pieces that they no longer wear is not only good for the planet, but also just a super fun way to hang out!

If you’re a fellow autumn-lover, grab this free printable version of this hygge autumn bucket list!

I also made this Instagram story template so you can share your own autumn bucket list! Make sure to tag me in your stories so that I can reshare!
